We are a Christian charity who want to improve the lives of families in Ipswich. We believe that, by working with the parents/carers to enable them to reach their goals, we can build resilience and improve day to day life.
As a volunteer mentor, you will listen, support and empower families to take small steps to lead to big changes in their life. You will be matched with a family who you will visit once a week for an hour for around 6 months and up to a maximum of 12months.
This is a exciting and challenging role and the right candidate will have experience of parenting either as a parent themselves or in another capacity. They will also understand and be willing to support our Christian ethos and values.
Full training and support is given both before your start and during your time with us. We appreciate what our volunteers bring to the role and, in return, offer a complete package of support and further training opportunities. Every volunteer has a named Family Coordinator responsible for them and the family they are supporting. Initial training can be done online at your pace and you will be allocated a named mentor to help with any queries. The training package includes: introduction to the charity and the role, listening and communication skills and safeguarding amongst other things.
The role is subject to a valid DBS check and 2 references.
