Student Life and Wellbeing (SLaW) works to enhance all aspects of student life and experience at the University and is part of the Library, Learning, Archives and Wellbeing Directorate. The team delivers a wide range of proactive and responsive services for students to navigate the challenges and maximise the opportunities that the University provides them with. Our Conduct and Respect team works to promote a community of respect, by responding to reports of student misconduct - including high risk and illegal behaviours such as harassment and sexual misconduct - through appropriate procedures, the provision of specialist support, holistic risk assessment and risk management, the provision of learning interventions, and close working partnerships both internally and externally.
The Student Conduct Coordinator will provide an initial response to those submitting named reports through our Report and Support tool, and assess anonymous reports to ensure we take appropriate action where possible. The role holder will provide resolution-focused interventions where appropriate, including working with colleagues in other teams to ensure these interventions are handled appropriately. The Student Conduct Coordinator will provide excellent administrative support including taking formal notes at investigative interviews and disciplinary panels, and assisting with responses to data requests.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing excellent response and service to those who make named submissions using our Report and Support tool
- Completing action-focused assessments on anonymous reports
- Providing informal interventions to assist in the resolution of low level or straightforward issues
- Undertaking a range of effective administrative duties that support to colleagues in the Conduct & Respect team: in particular servicing relevant disciplinary panels; including set up, recording minutes and decisions and ensuring records are kept in line with retention guidelines
- Assisting with responses to Freedom of Information and Subject Access requests
- Prepare communications and assist in sharing information in a timely and professional manner
- Contributing to and assisting the delivery of workshops, talks and training for colleagues, students and student leaders
- Contributing to the delivery of cross-SLAW projects and activities
- Maintaining professional boundaries and taking proper account of the need for confidentiality at all times when working with students and when discussing cases with staff.
- Attending support to study cases where relevant
- Occasional late and weekend working by arrangement with your manager.
