The Role
We are seeking a confident, experienced, and technically advanced NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing Educator to deliver the VTCT Level 3 Advanced Hairdressing curriculum on a part-time basis.
This role demands a strong educator who can work independently to plan, deliver, assess, and quality-assure learning in full alignment with VTCT standards. You will be responsible for all aspects of curriculum delivery, learner progress tracking, practical demonstrations, and assessment evidence.
Applicants must hold extensive salon experience, advanced technical capabilities, and proven experience teaching or assessing at Level 3. You must also be confident delivering complex, high-level technical services and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional teaching, assessment, and feedback for the VTCT NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing qualification.
- Plan and deliver structured lessons, practical workshops, and assessments that meet VTCT learning outcomes and criteria.
- Maintain accurate digital learner records, assessment evidence, and progress tracking through IT systems and LMS platforms.
- Produce high-quality teaching resources, digital content, and session plans.
- Conduct practical assessments, observations, and professional discussions in line with VTCT awarding body requirements.
- Manage your own timetable, teaching space, and learner needs effectively.
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and mentorship to help learners excel.
Essential Technical Skills
Applicants must be fully confident and highly competent in:
- Short hair and complex, advanced cutting techniques
- Creative colour work, including colour correction
- Hair extension application methods
- Perming and advanced chemical reformation techniques
- Creative, fashion-forward styling and finishing
These skills must be supported by extensive salon experience at an advanced professional level.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing (minimum).
- Extensive, proven experience working in a high-level salon environment.
- Strong understanding and experience delivering the VTCT Level 3 Hairdressing curriculum.
- Assessor Qualification (A1/TAQA/CAVA).
- Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification is a significant advantage.
- Previous experience teaching, training, or assessing Level 3 learners.
- Excellent IT skills, including LMS use, digital portfolios, spreadsheets, and communication platforms.
- Exceptional organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to independently plan, deliver, and assess in a compliant manner.
Desirable
- Experience using Schwarzkopf Professional colour and product ranges (training provided if needed).
