Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and professional Courier Owner Driver to join our team.
Horizon Express is a specialist Sameday operator working mainly in the medical sector.
- Mainly distance work (150 miles is average per job)
- Need 8-10 OD drivers due to a new business win
- Quality of service is key to us- we want the best and pay very fairly!
- You will often be collecting from patients at home
- Jobs generally booked the day before
- OD’s get paid weekly via self-billing
- Need Small Van/ Transit and LWB Drivers- needs to be very clean and tidy- no exceptions
- We will provide training include Dangerous Goods Aware- we pay the training costs!
- Our owner drivers have all got multiple years’ service for a reason!
- You will need courier insurance and provide proof
Responsibilities
- Safely operate your own vehicle to complete scheduled deliveries within specified timeframes
- Load and unload goods, ensuring items are handled with care and according to safety protocols
- Navigate efficiently using GPS and route planning tools to optimise delivery times
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status or any issues encountered
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance needs
- Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies during operations
- Assist with heavy lifting when required, ensuring proper handling techniques are used to prevent injury
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any faults promptly
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role involving commercial driving
- Valid driver’s licence suitable for operating your own vehicle (e.g., car, van, or lorry)
- Experience in warehouse work or heavy lifting is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and dispatch teams
- Knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations within the area of operation
- Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently as an Owner Driver
- A responsible attitude towards safety and customer service standards
