We are looking to recruit experienced staff to join our expanding and exciting Fashion programme, with BA (Hons) Fashion proud to have an academic partnership with Burberry. Based in our award-winning Broadcasting Place building, this role provides high-level technical support to the learning and development of a diverse cohort of undergraduate and postgraduate Fashion Design students within a creative, busy and inspiring environment.
We are looking to appoint a multi-skilled technician with extensive, and demonstrable, experience in industry standard garment technology, and proven experience in the various technical disciplines that contribute to the cut and construction of a broad range of garment types and styles. You will be proficient in the use of industry standard garment manufacturing machinery including automated lockstitch, overlocker, cover-stitch, buttonholer, vacuum press, digital embroidery, blind hemmer, and sonic bonder.
You will be part of a technical team supporting all aspects of pattern cutting and garment manufacturing, and safe studio practice across the learning environment. This will include maintaining studios and specialist equipment, ordering & selling stock, first line maintenance and assisting other technical staff in their duties. A good knowledge of IT is essential, such as Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), and Outlook. An adherence to Health & Safety safe working practices is also essential.
As a member of the Fashion Design support team, you will apply your proactive work ethos in both studio and showcase environments to assist in the smooth running of the day-to-day service as well as public performances such as End of Year shows. You will also be required to work closely and proactively with learning support colleagues in the wider School teams to provide an integrated service and thus a flexible approach to work location will be required.
We are looking for a self-motivated person who is great at communicating and multi-tasking, with a solid understanding of the needs of the course, and the students. You will have a relevant qualification in your area of specialism; an HND or first degree in Fashion Design, or significant industry experience in garment technology or a related field. You will be passionate about your subject with a dedication to professional development.
