We are a manufacturer of orthopedic components and materials manufactured to high specifications for the medical industry. Our main focus is to supplying high quality medical products to exacting customer and international specifications, supported by our Technical Department which is capable of testing polymeric materials to the highest standards. In order to support continued business growth, we require an enthusiastic individual to join our business to work within our Laboratory facility.
Key Accountable Areas:
· Undertake routine batch testing to Customer and International Specifications / Standards whilst maintaining working practices in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation
· Assist with research and development, continuous improvement of manufacturing facilities and contract testing
· To carry out physical /mechanical and chemical analysis on polymers
· Ensure all Health & Safety procedures and practices are adhered to within the department
· Complete routine documentation as part of the daily operational status within the laboratory
· Update and maintain Work Instructions, forms, SOPs and laboratory assets within the quality management system
· Testing & report writing for internal and external customer projects
· Provide Technical support and training to other technical staff
· Learning new skills to provide cover for other technical roles within the department as required
· Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment

Required Qualifications/Knowledge:
· 5 GCSE (C or above) in relevant subjects (to include Mathematics, English and one Science subject) or equivalent qualifications
· Document and maintain records accurately
· IT functionality – use of Microsoft Word & Excel
· Knowledge of International Quality & Test standards (beneficial)
· Polymer Science & Technology (beneficial)
· Previous experience working within a laboratory or similar role (beneficial)
· In house training, relevant to the role will be provided
Hours of Employment
· Monday to Thursday 08.30 – 17.00, Friday 08.30-13.30 (35 hour working week), which includes breaks.
· Duties and hours may vary dependent upon workload
