The Role: As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency and performance of manufacturing equipment across the site. You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving a variety of injection moulding machines, blow moulding machines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic equipment, automation systems and ancillary plant.
Hours of Work: 12 hours shifts, Panama shift pattern, day shift only. You'll work 7 shifts in 14 days.
Schedule example: Week one - 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on
Week two - 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off
The Role/Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical maintenance, repair and fault finding on injection moulding and blow moulding machinery
- Diagnosing and resolving complex hydraulic faults
- Reading and interpreting hydraulic schematics and technical drawings
- Supporting machine start-ups, machine setups and production activities
- Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency
- Conducting preventative maintenance activities across manufacturing equipment
- Supporting engineering improvement and continuous improvement projects
- Fault finding on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Assisting with machinery upgrades and reliability improvements
- Carrying out quality and safety-related engineering checks
- Utilising workshop equipment including lathes, grinders and welding equipment where required
To be successful in this role, you will likely have:
- Strong mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent hydraulic fault-finding ability
- Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and hydraulic drawings
- Proven mechanical problem-solving skills
- Experience carrying out root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Experience with pneumatics
- A proactive and hands-on approach to engineering maintenance
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Candidates with experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Hydraulic Engineer or Maintenance Technician are encouraged to apply. Experience within plastics manufacturing, injection moulding, blow moulding, packaging, FMCG or automated manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous.
KPIs/Success within the first year:
- Have a good operational understanding of all the blow moulding and injection moulding machines
- A good knowledge of the plastics process and be able to setup jobs on the machines
- The capabilities to fault find and repair faults
- Show your fault finding and repair processes
- Completion of training requirements, including; lifting & slinging, FLT licence, and robotics training
