Job Summary

Due to significant growth, We are hiring an experienced and energetic Cafe Cook with proven chef skills to join our fantastic team.

This is a full time position offering an excellent hourly salary.

The Rascal Ranch is open Mon-Sunday 10am - 6pm, Hours of work will be part time 9.30am- 5.30pm and will include weekend`s. We do not require you to work split shifts.

Within the Rascal Ranch Café all our food is made to order, we offer a range of cooked sandwiches, hot food and daily specials to run alongside our menu. We are looking for a Cafe Cook to work within our successful café kitchen assisting in producing a very high level of food.

Applicants should have 1 year minimum experience in service of fresh food produced in a fast paced environment. You will be expected to work well within a team and have a real passion for your work.

Any candidate will be expected to become proficient in all areas of our menus.

The role does require work weekends, though unlike most venues we offer flexible rotas.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
Cook dishes efficiently while maintaining quality and presentation standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces
Follow food safety regulations and hygiene protocols at all times
Support the team during busy periods to ensure timely service delivery
Help with stock rotation, inventory checks, and ordering supplies as needed
Serve food to customers in a courteous and professional manner when required
Adhere to health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents or contamination

Skills

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or a restaurant environment is highly desirable
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure
Good communication skills and a friendly demeanour when serving customers or working within a team
Willingness to learn new culinary techniques and adapt to different kitchen environments
Basic understanding of meal preparation and kitchen equipment operation
Ability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting

In this role you will:

Already have good experience in a high-quality kitchen (1 year minimum)
Level 2 food hygiene certificate
Be flexible to work on all sections as required
consistency to work alone
Work at speed

Cafe Cook:

Cleans food preparation areas as determined by law and company policies

Makes adjustments to food items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific diet concerns
Manages other employees in the kitchen
Acts as liaison to front-of-house employees to ensure proper food service temperature
Seasons food according to recipes or company needs
Orders ingredients and spices as needed
Operates various kitchen appliance such as a blender, oven, grill, or stand mixer
Portions, arranges, and garnishes food based on client preference
Assists other cooks during the food assembly process
Prepares any necessary sauces or accompaniments before meal service begins
Cleans up after business hours
Communicates with owner about how to improve meal service
Have seasonal Changes to the menu
