Northern Light Microscopy is a 2024 spinout from the University of Strathclyde with the mission to empower life science labs and companies to unlock the bioscience discoveries of tomorrow through our cutting-edge accessible advanced microscopy hardware and software solutions.
Following a successful significant pre-seed funding round we are looking to scale our team and accelerate our technology roadmaps building upon our core product, the AMIS.
We are based in the centre of Glasgow and you will join a small yet incredibly talented and driven team of hardware/software engineers and technical specialists with the opportunity to lead development on new computational advanced image analysis pipelines with direct access to leadership, the ability to shape your career progression and be part of a very exciting and fast growing company as we transition from product development to commercial deployment!
The Role – Software Engineer - Image Analysis
We are looking for the right candidate to lead the development of next generation image analysis pipelines and algorithms which will enhance and add to our advanced modular microscopy platform and software. Developments will integrate into our existing user facing software framework and form the core of life-science labs and companies’ workflows using our products.
Based on site in our Glasgow offices, you will be reporting directly to the CTO and working alongside our experienced UI and hardware integration software developer, whilst engaging deeply with our hardware R&D team and being able to access and tap into direct customer feedback from our technical and product specialists.
Key responsibilities include -
- Create and adapt image processing pipelines for 2D and 3D super-resolution microscopy modalities.
- Support system auto-calibration processes.
- Smart microscopy feature development.
- Future image processing pipeline scoping and development of automated modules.
Required Qualifications or Experience
- Masters level degree or equivalent professional experience in mathematics, computer science or computational image analysis and algorithm development. Additionally, the candidate should have experience or knowledge in Python, C++ and GPU processing.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in developing and applying algorithms for image processing or analysis.
- Understanding of bioimaging workflows and analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a data driven approach to development and optimization
- Ability to work independently or alongside a multi-disciplinary team with the communication skills to ensure smooth flow of technical information and ideas.
