NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join our Mental Health Occupational Therapy team at Gartnavel Royal Hospital. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties, helping them engage in meaningful therapeutic activities that support recovery and promote independence. As part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to delivering person-centred care while developing your own knowledge, skills and experience. Working within NHSGGC means being part of a values-driven organisation committed to supporting staff development, innovation and excellent patient care.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker Visa or Health and Care Worker Visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Gartnavel Royal Hospital
Monday to Friday 08:30 to 16:30
Permanent, full-time

Key responsibilities:

Support the delivery of therapeutic activities for individuals and groups experiencing mental health difficulties
Work alongside Occupational Therapists to implement and review treatment programmes and interventions
Facilitate group sessions and one-to-one activities that promote independence, recovery and wellbeing
Contribute to Occupational Therapy assessments and provide feedback on client progress and functional abilities
Build positive therapeutic relationships with clients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team
Maintain accurate written and electronic records in line with professional and service standards
Participate in service improvement, training, audit activities and the maintenance of safe clinical environments

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Experience of working in a caring, health, social care, community or support environment
Technical qualification such as City & Guilds, Health & Social Care qualification or equivalent relevant experience
Ability to work independently with individuals and groups while recognising when to seek support and guidance
Good communication, interpersonal and observation skills with the ability to engage effectively with service users and colleagues
Competency in one or more leisure, creative or practical activities that can support therapeutic interventions
Good organisational skills with an understanding of health and safety, risk awareness and professional conduct
Commitment to ongoing learning and development with a willingness to undertake relevant training and work flexibly to meet service needs
