An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Planning Services Manager to lead our friendly team of Treatment Planning Dosimetrists here at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The post is within the Radiotherapy Physics department at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will manage the treatment planning workflow in a busy and dynamic environment, oversee and contribute to the advanced Radiotherapy treatment plans that have a direct impact on the treatment of cancer patients attending the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. The post holder will have the opportunity to drive quality and service improvements and will line manage the dosimetrists and support staff in treatment planning.
Applicants should have Registration as a Clinical Technologist or HCPC registration as a therapeutic Radiographer or as a Clinical Scientist.
The department has total of 14 linacs (13 operational at any point in time due to continuous replacement program) currently comprising of 13 Varian TrueBeam linacs, 2 of which have HD MLC and one Varian Ethos System. Treatment planning is performed using Varian Eclipse TPS and doses are independently checked using RadCalc. Approximately 700 treatment plans are produced every month with the vast majority being inverse planned. Various techniques are established in the department including VMAT, IMRT, SABR, TBI, TSE, DIBH, gating, HyperArc and RapidPlan to name a few. But there are also many exciting projects that the post-holder will have the opportunity to be involved in. The main service is located at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in the heart of West End Glasgow and a satellite centre at Monklands Hospital, Airdrie. The West End is a fantastic place to live famous for the quality and abundance of bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Glasgow Botanical Gardens, Riverside Museum and various other local attractions are within walking distance while numerous lochs and hiking spots are a short drive away. Nearby areas of Bearsden and Milngavie are popular with families.
