The role:
We are seeking a vigilant and proactive Security Officer to join our team. In this role, you will monitor CCTV for criminal activity, patrol our factory premises, investigate any signs of intrusion, and inspect all points of entry to ensure they remain secure. You will also be responsible for locking down and opening up the factory when required.
This is a full time role based at our headquarters in Kendal.
Bank Holiday working may be required in this role.
What you’ll be doing:
- Monitor CCTV footage for suspicious activity and respond appropriately.
- Patrol the site regularly, inspecting all entry points for security.
- Respond to all alarms (production, effluent, gas, and fire), coordinating with factory staff, first aiders, and the fire team when required.
- Screen all individuals arriving on site, authorising access for employees, contractors, and visitors, and challenging suspicious activities.
- Maintain accurate logs of all visitors, deliveries, and contractors, ensuring adherence to site medical, GMP, and driver safety rules.
- Manage contractor controls — including inductions, permits to work, and fire register updates.
- Act as first point of contact for police, ambulance, or fire services in emergencies.
- Operate the factory switchboard and tannoy services, handling calls after business hours.
- Prepare accurate reports (patrol, incident, environmental, and non-conformance) for management.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive security matters.
- Provide constructive feedback to management on site security improvements.
What you’ll need:
- Full employment history and ability to pass a DBS check.
- Previous experience in security operations and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills with clear written and verbal communication.
- Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Report writing experience.
- Willingness to learn and use in-house systems and software.
- Minimum Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry or willingness to complete this course.
- SIA Licence desirable.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions without immediate supervision.
