The position
Stevie Wight Electrical Ltd is looking for an experienced plumber or plumbing and heating engineer to join our growing plumbing, heating and renewables division.
We carry out a varied range of domestic, commercial and new-build work throughout Dumfries and Galloway. We require someone capable of working productively on their own and as part of a team, completing installations to a consistently high standard.
This position would suit an experienced, time-served plumber who wants secure local employment, varied work and the opportunity to develop further within heating and renewable technologies.
Main duties
The successful candidate will be involved in:
- First-fix and second-fix plumbing on new-build and refurbishment projects
- Bathroom and sanitaryware installations
- Domestic and commercial heating installations
- Air-source heat pump installations
- Cylinders, plantrooms, pumps and associated pipework
- Fault finding, repairs and maintenance
- Testing and commissioning installations
- Reading drawings and planning materials
- Completing work within agreed programmes and deadlines
- Liaising professionally with customers, site managers and other trades
- Supervising apprentices or less experienced operatives when required
Essential experience
Applicants should have:
- Relevant plumbing qualifications or completed plumbing apprenticeship
- Good experience in domestic or commercial plumbing
- Experience completing first-fix and second-fix work
- The ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- A high standard of workmanship
- A full UK driving licence
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- A reliable and professional approach to work
Desirable experience
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Gas Safe qualifications
- Air-source heat pump experience
- Unvented hot-water qualification
- Oil-heating experience
- New-build housing experience
- Commercial plantroom experience
- Experience supervising apprentices or small teams
Training can be provided to the right person in air-source heat pumps and renewable heating systems.
