An exciting opportunity has become available to work as a Landscape Officer within the council's Environmental Planning Team, in the Planning Department.
The Environmental Planning Team is a multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist advice on landscape architecture, design arboriculture, ecology and built heritage with the mission to improve and protect the varied and high-quality environment of Cheshire East, helping to shape sustainable forms of development and places.
About the role
As a Landscape Officer, you will help shape development to secure the best landscape outcomes, managing a caseload of planning application consultations and appeals. The role provides the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects including:
- Preparing and managing landscape consultations, including visual and landscape assessment advice;
- Advising on landscape Design Matters across a variety of projects, and managing implementation; and
- Developing landscape guidance and policy for the Local Plan, including input into Design Codes, and future place shaping.

About you
You will:
- Have a passion for the built and natural environment and the role landscape architecture plays within it
- Have a degree level qualification within Landscape Architecture or similar
- Be a member of the landscape Institute (or working toward membership)
- Have post qualification experience dealing with planning applications, either from the public or private sector
- Have an understanding of landscape Visual Impact Assessment
- Be an effective team player with good communication skills
- Have a flexible approach to work
