We have an exciting opportunity within CAMHS (working with Adults) for a highly motivated individual who enjoys the challenges and rewards of a multi-agency environment, to join the Turn Around for Children Service (TACS) as a Band 6 Registered Practitioner.
The Turn Around for Children Service (TACS) is the multi-agency, multi-disciplinary community team that delivers programmes for the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) in Gloucestershire. FDAC is an innovative, specialist family court within the Family Court system. It offers a joined-up, problem-solving alternative to care proceedings for families where difficulties of parental substance misuse, domestic abuse and mental health may be impacting on parenting capacity and the child’s outcomes.
Within TACS, CAMHS practitioners assert the voice of the child, while supporting parents in their recovery journey. Our service exists to help parents with:
- Achieving and sustaining abstinence from substance use
- Mental health recovery and improved whole-family well-being
- Shorter care proceedings with improved outcomes for children
We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible CAMHS Band 6 registered practitioner committed to supporting the mental health, recovery and reunification of highly vulnerable families.
Applications from Occupational Therapists are particularly welcomed for this role.
We are part of Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust and work in close partnership with our colleagues in health and social care to deliver this county-wide service. We operate a Monday to Friday service.
As part of your role, you will be expected to deliver intensive, co-ordinated assessments and support using evidence-based interventions. You will also contribute to court reports and drug/alcohol testing regimes.
The successful applicant must have the necessary professional qualification, including current registration (applications from OTs welcomed). All CAMHS Registered Practitioners hold a generic job description.
You will be encouraged to develop your specialist clinical skills through training, supervision and personal coaching, within the framework of a personalised job plan.

- Undertake assessment of parental mental health and substance misuse support needs.
- Provide consultation, advice, and support to professionals within TACS team and associated services such as the Family Drug and Alcohol Court.
- Provide a responsive service of assessment, intervention and multi-agency liaison.
- Provide specialist clinical risk assessments as part of routine clinical work.
- Undertake clinical responsibility for a caseload, adhering to care planning processes in line with CPA, liaising with Trust and multi-agency partners across Gloucestershire as appropriate.
- Deliver specialist interventions with parents and families where mental health, domestic violence and substance misuse problems are prevalent.
- Provide reports according to the needs of the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC), working to Court guidelines and timescales.
- Contribute to formulations, team meetings and reviews. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care needs of a specific group of (Adult) service users.
- Supervise, mentor and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students.
- Coordinate care for a specified group of (Adult) service users.
