We are seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Educator Radiographer to join our Radiology Education Team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with a dedicated education role, supporting undergraduate students, apprentices, assistant practitioners, newly qualified radiographers and learners across a wide range of imaging services.
Working closely with the Superintendent Radiographer for Education, you will play a key role in ensuring learners receive high-quality clinical education, supervision, assessment and pastoral support while helping to shape the future workforce of our Radiology Directorate.

As a Practice Educator Radiographer, you will:
- Support and assess Radiography students, apprentices and learners in achieving clinical competencies and professional standards
- Coordinate and quality assure clinical placements, including induction, orientation and ongoing supervision
- Monitor learner progression and implement support plans where required
- Deliver education and training programmes for Radiographers, assistant practitioners and support staff
- Support preceptorship programmes and the development of newly qualified radiographers
- Work collaboratively with universities, colleges, and apprenticeship providers to ensure high-quality education provision
- Contribute to audits, quality improvement projects and workforce development initiatives
- Maintain a high standard of clinical radiographic practice and provide professional leadership to junior colleagues and learners
- Lead and coordinate workloads when acting as lead radiographer, supporting safe patient flow and service delivery

This is an exciting time to join our Radiology Directorate as we continue to develop our workforce, education programmes and diagnostic services.
The Practice Educator Radiographer will support safe patient flow and operational delivery whilst balancing education responsibilities, demonstrating the ability to prioritise workload effectively and manage competing demands. They will undertake more complex radiographic examinations with minimal supervision and support junior colleagues in developing safe clinical decision-making skills.
A significant component of the role will involve acting as a named Practice Educator for undergraduate radiography students, apprentices, assistant practitioners, support workers and other learners undertaking clinical placements within Imaging Services.
The post holder will contribute to the development of future workforce models, supporting apprenticeships, alternative training pathways and career development opportunities for staff across the radiology service.
The Practice Educator Radiographer will act as lead radiographer when required, coordinating workload allocation, supporting patient flow and ensuring safe and effective service delivery. They will provide visible leadership and support to junior staff, learners and multidisciplinary colleagues.
The post holder will act as an ambassador for the Radiology profession and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, supporting recruitment initiatives, careers events, university engagement activities and open days. They will actively promote radiography as a rewarding healthcare profession and contribute to attracting future talent into the workforce.
