Job title: Residential Support Worker

Organisation: Heartlands Group Ltd.

Position: Full Time

Salary: £27,000 to £29,500 per annum depending on experience and qualifications (with the opportunity to earn £32,000+ with overtime and additional sleep-in shifts).

Please note we cannot offer sponsorship for overseas workers

Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Residential Support Worker to join a motivated team to deliver high and consistent standards of care and support in our homes across Gloucestershire. This role involves supporting children and adolescents with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, emotional and behavioural difficulties, self-harming behaviours, learning disabilities and other additional needs. You will play a vital role in helping young people feel safe, understood, and supported in their mental health needs to successfully live their daily lives.

You will be responsible for working as part of a team to provide support, understanding and nurturing, and to provide a positive role model for the children and young people placed in our Children’s Homes. You will work to a 3-week rolling rota, including weekends and sleep in shifts, to provide consistency and ease of predictability in your shift patterns.

Your duties & responsibilities will include recording, attending meetings and adhering to the policies and procedures within the Home. You will need to engage with children offering guidance, support and structure to their everyday lives and above all inspire them to reach their full potential.

Other duties would include providing transport for the children to access different provisions, education settings & days out (e.g., social events, shopping, cinema, swimming), Contacts, visits, key work meetings and therapy sessions.

You should have experience with

· Mental Health support for children and adolescents

· Challenging behaviour

· Caring for children or young people.

You must have

· A commitment to delivering high quality care according to OFSTED regulations.

· Hold a current UK Driving License and have access to a vehicle which can be used for business purposes.

You will be responsible for:

· Ensuring the welfare and care of each child in our homes.

· Ensuring all children are offered an excellent level of care.

· Raising any concerns with the Team Leader or Registered Manager as appropriate.

Required Duties & Tasks are:

· To ensure children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day.

· To follow the Placement Plan, behaviour management plan and risk assessment for each child at all times.

· To ensure all care needs of children are met, this includes, cooking, cleaning and supporting with their homework.

· Provide personal care to children when and where needed.

· Ensure children are supported to use their preferred means of communication and that they have access to their communication aids.

· To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each child’s attendance in education is maintained.

· To ensure all policies and procedures are followed.

· To uphold Heartlands morals and ethos.

· To uphold our ‘good neighbour’ policy whilst working in our homes.

· To work in accordance with the rotas and on a ‘rolling rota’ basis to include 5 contracted sleep-ins per month.

· To work in partnership with other professionals and parents.

· To produce accurate recordings of the child’s day to include incident reports (this includes physical restraints).

· To immediately report any issues regarding concerns relating to child protection or staff conduct to the Team Leader, Registered Manager / Responsible Individual.

· To maintain confidentiality at all times.

· To act as good role models to our children and staff.

· To ensure your training is kept up to date.

· To attend meetings and training as required.

· To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.

· To be flexible in hours of work in order to meet tasks required.

· To be aware of Health and Safety regulations particularly as related to the upkeep of the building and its surroundings.

· To support family contact where agreed.

· To assist visitors in the home to include social workers, families, Ofsted and the regulation 44 visitor.

· To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested.
