Hours of work: 21 hours per week
Salary: £30,000 - £31,500 per annum pro rata (35 hours FTE) = £22,400
Location: Hybrid working model, working from home and Glasgow office
Holidays: 37.5 days per annum - pro rata (inclusive of public holidays)
Pension: Defined contribution pension scheme based on employer
contributions of 5% plus additional employee contributions
Contract: Initially until March 2027 (may be extended, subject to further funding)

Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Employability Officer to lead and develop our employability and adult learning programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting individuals from diverse communities to build skills, access learning opportunities and move towards sustainable employment.
The successful candidate will lead the delivery of our employability services, including the No One Left Behind programme, funded by Glasgow City Council and delivered through the Glasgow Ethnic Minority Service (GEMS) consortium. Led by Bridges Programmes, GEMS brings together community organisations and education partners, including Glasgow Clyde College, Cranhill Community Trust, Community Renewal, GECCo, Govanhill Community Development Trust and Amina MWRC, to provide accessible and inclusive employability support to marginalised communities across Glasgow.
As Lead Employability Officer, you will line manage and support Project Officers delivering these services, ensuring high-quality provision and positive outcomes for service users. You will also build and strengthen partnerships across the voluntary, statutory and private sectors, developing collaborative initiatives that create opportunities and remove barriers to employment.
This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for supporting people to achieve their potential, and experience of developing employability programmes and partnerships. You will play a key role in driving forward Amina's employability objectives and helping to create lasting positive change for the communities we serve.
Some out of hours working may be required – including occasional evening and weekend work.
Key Tasks & Activities:
- Provide strategic leadership for Amina's role within the GEMS consortium, contributing to partnership planning, governance and the delivery of high-quality employability services under the No One Left Behind (NOLB) framework.
- Lead and manage the Employability Project and associated adult learning programmes, including ESOL, ICT and skills development courses, supporting Muslim and Minority Ethnic women into education, training and employment.
- Develop and implement project workplans in collaboration with the line manager, ensuring effective delivery against objectives, outcomes and funding requirements.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, client-centred services that are responsive to the needs and experiences of Muslim and Minority Ethnic women.
- To deliver holistic employability casework support.
- Provide line management, supervision and performance management to Project Officers.
- Oversee the planning, design and delivery of employability workshops, training and other project activities.
- Work collaboratively with other Amina projects to develop, coordinate and deliver outreach activities and integrated services.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with employers, training providers, community organisations and other stakeholders to enhance opportunities for service users.
- Organise and coordinate employer engagement activities, including faith and cultural awareness training, to increase access to employment, volunteering and work placement opportunities.
- Promote Amina's services to external agencies, employers and local communities to strengthen referral pathways and partnership working.
- Represent Amina and the GEMS project at meetings, working groups, seminars, conferences and events, advocating for the needs and experiences of Muslim and Minority Ethnic women.
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure project performance, outcomes and impact.
- Maintain accurate project records, ensuring effective use of databases and management information systems.
- Prepare and submit progress, monitoring and impact reports for the CEO, Board, consortium partners and funders, ensuring compliance with all funding requirements.
- Contribute to organisational performance targets, team planning and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality, safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion policies.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate with the post as required by management.
