The role:
The Community Mental Health Acute Care Service is seeking to recruit a Band 6 Practitioner.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team, providing specialist mental health support and crisis intervention to individuals with complex mental health, physical, and social care needs.
The role focuses on delivering intensive home treatment and care as an alternative to hospital admission, while also supporting early discharge from inpatient services.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

These hours will be worked on a mixed shift pattern from 09:00 to 17:00 and 12:00 to 20:00 shifts over 7 days

Key responsibilities:
You will provide assessment, treatment, and support for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, delivering intensive home treatment where appropriate as an alternative to hospital admission.
They will play a key role in facilitating early discharge from inpatient services through discharge planning, immediate follow-up support, and assessments during periods of leave from the hospital.
You will provide clinical leadership to junior team members, managing workloads, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring service users receive appropriate care. They will support the development and performance of junior staff through appraisal, clinical supervision, caseload management, and ongoing support while working within legal, ethical, and professional frameworks, ensuring both their own practice and that of junior colleagues complies with relevant legislation and professional standards.
You will also assist the Team Leader in the rapid deployment of crisis resources and maintain effective communication and coordination between community mental health teams, inpatient services, mental health network services, and partner agencies.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Completion of training as a First Level Registered Mental Health Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), or a Registered Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), or a Registered Social Worker with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Significant post-registration experience, including experience within the mental health sector.

Experience of supervising junior staff, including qualified staff where appropriate.

Evidence of continuing professional development.

Effective communication skills.

Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
