About Us
We are looking for a warm, friendly and energetic Front of House Host to join our team in the beautiful coastal village of Porthscatho.
You'll be one of the friendly faces that welcomes our guests into our beautifully restored traditional pub, stunning garden and pergola. You'll help create the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes people want to stay a little longer and come back again and again.
This is a varied role that combines hosting, restaurant service and bar work, so we're looking for someone who enjoys being busy, loves people and is happy to get stuck in wherever they're needed.
You'll work alongside the team to deliver fantastic service across our whole site.
What You'll Be Doing
Hosting & Guest Experience
- Warmly welcoming every guest and creating a fantastic first impression.
- Managing guest arrivals, bookings and table allocations.
- Showing guests to their tables and helping them settle in comfortably.
- Being knowledgeable and enthusiastic about our menus, drinks and the local area.
- Looking after guests throughout their visit and anticipating their needs.
- Building relationships with regular guests and getting to know the people who make Porthscatho so special.
- Managing guest questions and requests confidently and escalating any issues to the management team when needed.
- Supporting smooth table flow and communicating closely with the kitchen and wider FOH team during busy services.
- Helping with private functions, parties and events.
Bar Work
- Preparing and serving a range of drinks, including beers, wines, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.
- Taking drinks orders confidently and ensuring they reach guests quickly and correctly.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and well-stocked bar.
- Supporting with bar opening and closing procedures.
- Restocking fridges, shelves and bar areas throughout service.
- Checking stock levels and communicating when products need replenishing.
- Following responsible alcohol service and licensing requirements.
- Keeping the bar looking fantastic throughout service, clean, tidy and ready for the next guest.
Restaurant & Service
- Taking food and drink orders accurately and confidently.
- Understanding our menus and being able to talk guests through dishes, ingredients and dietary requirements.
- Working closely with both kitchens to ensure food and information reaches the guest correctly.
- Running food and drinks when required.
- Clearing and resetting tables quickly and to a high standard.
- Supporting the team during busy services and stepping into different areas when needed.
- Delivering attentive but relaxed service that suits the atmosphere of the pub.
- Processing bills and payments accurately.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Is naturally warm, friendly and welcoming.
- Loves talking to people and making guests feel at home.
- Has previous hospitality, restaurant, pub or bar experience preferable but we can teach you if not!
- Is comfortable working at pace during busy services.
- Is organised and able to juggle multiple tasks without losing their smile.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Is reliable, proactive and happy to get stuck in.
- Takes pride in their appearance, their work and the venue.
- Has a genuine interest in food, drink and great hospitality.
- Is a team player who enjoys helping others.
You'll be joining a beautifully restored traditional pub in Porthscatho, with a gorgeous garden and pergola and a relaxed coastal atmosphere.
Our offering includes food from two kitchens, a varied range of menus, a great drinks offering and private functions and events.
It's a busy environment, but we want it to feel fun, welcoming and personal. We're looking for people who will love the pub and its guests as much as we do.
