Service Manager – Supported Living

Location: North Essex and Suffolk

Salary: £45,000 per year

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Service Manager to lead our Supported Living service and inspire a team committed to delivering exceptional care and support.

The Role

As Service Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of our Supported Living service, ensuring that the people we support receive safe, effective, and high-quality support tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.

You will lead and develop a skilled workforce, promote a positive and inclusive culture, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, and work closely with families, professionals, and stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes for those we support.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious leader who is passionate about person-centred support, quality improvement, and developing high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the daily operation of the Supported Living service.
Ensure people receive high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence and choice.
Develop, review, and oversee support plans, risk assessments, and care documentation.
Ensure compliance with CQC standards, safeguarding requirements, the Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant legislation.
Lead, motivate, supervise, and develop the staff team.
Manage recruitment, induction, training, performance management, and staff development.
Ensure safe staffing levels through effective rota management.
Oversee medication management, incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns, and complaints.
Conduct audits, spot checks, competency assessments, and quality monitoring activities.
Support continuous improvement and contribute to quality assurance and governance processes.
Build positive relationships with service users, families, commissioners, local authorities, and healthcare professionals.
Participate in the management on-call rota and provide guidance and support during emergencies.
Support service development, referrals, assessments, transitions, and occupancy growth.

About You

You will be a confident and compassionate leader with experience managing services within Supported Living, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Mental Health, or Adult Social Care.

Essential Requirements

Previous management experience within a Supported Living or Adult Social Care setting.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, person-centred care, and positive risk management.
Knowledge of CQC regulations, the Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Experience leading teams, conducting supervisions, and managing performance.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Experience completing audits and maintaining high-quality standards.
Ability to build effective relationships with families, professionals, and external stakeholders.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
Experience supporting CQC inspections.
Experience managing supported living services for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
