Full job description

We are seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) to join our busy veterinary practice and assist our vets and nurses in the provision of high-quality care to our patients. The ideal candidate for us will have a love for animals, enjoy caring for them while ensuring their comfort while in practice and be able to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience in a VCA role or other position caring for animals is advantageous but not essential by any means.

This is a part-time role working 2 -3 days a week (17 – 25.5 hours). There are no weekends and no out of hours requirements.

Responsibilities

Monitoring patient’s comfort and wellbeing while in practice
Cleaning kennels, treatment areas, and equipment to ensure a hygienic environment
Laundering bedding and uniforms
Assisting in the preparation of patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures
Assisting with safely restraining animals during consultations and procedures where required
Assisting with setting up equipment and treatment areas
Assisting with patient admissions and discharges
Supporting the wider team with other tasks as and when required

Requirements

Genuine interest in animal health and welfare
Ability to work well within a team environment
Compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners
Excellent animal handling skills
Attention to detail
Good communication and organisational skills
High standards of cleanliness and professionalism.
A valid right to work in the UK is essential
