Salary: £12.71 per hour (training, day shift) rising to £13.25 per hour (night shift)
Estimated annual earnings: £33,072 (4 nights/week) to £41,340 (5 nights/week) based on night rate
Shift: Night shift permanent, Monday–Friday, 7pm–7am (choice of 4 or 5 nights per week)
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable Machine Operator to join our production team, working across a wide range of polythene bag and blown film extrusion lines. Full training is provided, so you will learn to safely and confidently operate a variety of extrusion and bag-making machines.

What the Role Involves
- Reading and understanding job specifications
- Arranging the right materials for the job
- Setting up machines to match job orders and specifications
- Making machine adjustments to meet customer requirements
- Completing job sheets and signing off first-off quality checks
- Carrying out regular checks to ensure output meets customer specs and quality standards
- Reporting any equipment, material, safety, or quality issues to your supervisor promptly
- Working cooperatively with the team to support smooth daily production
- Carrying out basic mathematical calculations as part of the role
- Communicating clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Working safely as per the training and safe system of the work
- Taking on additional tasks and projects as directed by supervisors or management
- You could be in charge of running up to 4 machines at a time
What We're Looking For
- A positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a genuine willingness to learn
- Comfortable with moderate lifting and standing for extended periods
- At least 1 year of experience working in a factory or machine-operating environment
- Previous experience in the polythene industry is an advantage, though not essential
- Willingness to work night shifts and put in the hours for strong earning potential
Training
You will start on day shift while training, earning £12.71 per hour. Once you've successfully completed training and can demonstrate that you can operate the machines safely, independently, and efficiently, you'll move to night shift and receive the night shift rate of £13.25 per hour.
