Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Projects Estimator to support the pricing and pre‑construction stages of our fire door and joinery installation projects across the UK. This role is ideal for an estimator seeking flexible part‑time freelance work with a steady pipeline of specialist projects.
Most duties can be completed remotely, however we would prefer someone based in North East Lincolnshire who can attend our office and project sites when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for fire door, joinery and interior installation projects.
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to produce accurate take‑offs.
- Measure and quantify materials, labour and associated costs.
- Develop priced Bills of Quantities, schedules and tender submissions.
- Assess project risks, constraints and commercial considerations.
- Price variations, change orders and revised scopes.
- Liaise with Contracts Managers, Site Managers and clients during tender and pre‑start phases.
- Review subcontractor quotations and ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Support the commercial team with cost planning, forecasting and budget development.
- Attend occasional office, client and site meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Projects Estimator specialising in fire doors or joinery installations.
- Strong expertise in cost control, budgeting, and financial management within construction projects.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in relevant software such as Excel, Bluebeam, or other estimating tools.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management are preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
