Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator (Construction)
Location: Hybrid / Office-Based with Travel to North Ferriby, East Yorkshire
Salary: £33,000 – £39,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our growing construction estimating consultancy. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and professional environment, supporting the delivery of accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for a wide range of UK construction projects.

The role will be hybrid, following a training and induction period, combining remote working with office-based work and regular travel to North Ferriby, East Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects
Producing and reviewing Bills of Quantities in accordance with SMM7 and/or NRM2 standards
Taking off quantities from drawings and specifications
Supporting senior estimators with pricing and tender submissions
Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations
Analysing drawings, specifications, and project documentation
Maintaining accurate records of project costs and assumptions
Assisting with value engineering and cost planning exercises

Essential Requirements

Proven knowledge and understanding of Bills of Quantities to SMM7 and/or NRM2 standards
Experience in quantity take-offs and construction estimating
Strong numerical and analytical skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to North Ferriby

Desirable Skills & Experience

Previous experience working within a consultancy or contractor environment
Familiarity with estimating software such as Conquest, CostX, or similar
Experience across sectors such as residential, commercial, or industrial projects
Strong communication and organisational skills
