Ashcourt Group is continuing to grow, and we're looking for a dedicated Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our friendly finance team in Newton Aycliffe. About the Role
You'll play a key part in supporting the Ashcourt (Durham & Tees Valley) business, taking ownership of day‑to‑day ledger activity while contributing to wider accounts tasks. This is a varied, hands‑on role where you'll work closely with the Finance Manager and support the development of a junior colleague - making it ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, structure, and teamwork!
Key Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day management of purchase ledgers, including inputting transactions, reconciling statements, and requesting missing information
- Processing invoices, allocating payments, and supporting general accounts tasks
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers and client
- Mentoring a finance apprentice, helping them develop skills and confidence within the team
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Reconciling intercompany ledgers monthly
- Maintaining an organised and efficient filing system
- Supporting ad‑hoc projects and wider finance initiatives
What You'll Bring
- A Full UK Driving Licence
- Previous experience in an accounting or purchase ledger role
- Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Excellent organisation, accuracy, and time‑management
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
