Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Principal Officer to join our team and lead critical administrative functions within our organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee key operational processes, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support executive leadership in achieving strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will play a vital role in maintaining efficient office operations, managing stakeholder relationships, and facilitating smooth day-to-day activities.

Responsibilities

Arrange a wide range of agricultural and rural events including the County Show, Winter shoe and other of the Society's Activities
Provide guidance and leadership to full and part-time staff
Work with a dedicated team of Volunteers that are members of the Society
Maintain accurate accounts, and book-keeping for the Society
Oversee office operations, including scheduling, correspondence, and document management using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and specific software developed for running Agricultural Shows and Events
Ensure the Society is compliant with all Health & Safety requirements
Develop the Society's presence on all Social Media platforms
Develop the Society's Marketing and Sponsorship Strategy
Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and assist in the development of presentations for meetings or strategic planning sessions.
Organize meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and follow up on action items to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot office technology issues and optimize the use of digital tools for productivity enhancement.
Research and apply for grants for which the Society may be eligible

Qualifications

Proven experience in office administration or related roles with strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills in both English and Welsh, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and professionally both written and verbally .
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential; experience with IT systems is preferred.
Demonstrated customer service experience with a positive attitude towards client engagement.
Strong administrative experience including document preparation, record keeping, and data management.
Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with office equipment and software applications necessary for daily operations.
Have a thorough knowledge of the Agricultural Industry, and/or Local and Rural Affairs
