About this opportunity:
If you would like to learn to ride a horse, or already love riding, Old Bexley Equestrian Centre is for you. Our horses are cared for by dedicated trained staff, have spacious living accommodation and extensive fields in which to roam. We have a diverse range of Horses and Ponies from: Beginner school level, Showjumpers and Dressage Schoolmasters. We are looking for a new apprentice to join our team and be involved in all areas of horse care and riding lessons.
This Equine Groom Apprenticeship position is open to someone who is passionate about the highest care of horses, good at working in a team and who would like to learn more about the equine industry.
Jobs to include but not limited to:
Feeding horses & providing water
Organise schedule for the day
Turn out & muck out
Grooming & tacking up
Washing off
Tack cleaning
Making feeds & hay nets
Washing saddle pads,
Leading & teaching
Sweeping & tidying yard
Desired skills and qualities
Previous experience working with horses is beneficial
Customer service skills are desired with good communication
Reliable with good time management skills
The applicant needs to work well within a team but also use their own initiative.
A keen interest in horses is essential
Desired qualifications
Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in a horse care related qualification to be eligible and considered for this apprenticeship
GCSEs, or equivalent, in maths and English are desirable
Future prospects
Future full time employment may be available for the right candidate.
The perfect apprenticeship for those looking to be yard managers, grooms, professional riders.
Training
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
