Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Counter Assistant to join our pharmacy team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting patient care by providing excellent customer service and assisting with pharmacy operations. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills within a healthcare environment and contribute positively to patient wellbeing. Prior experience as a pharmacy technician or in medication administration is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate. The role is paid and suitable for individuals passionate about healthcare and patient support.
Duties
- Greet customers courteously and assist them with their pharmacy needs at the counter
- Dispense medications accurately under supervision, ensuring correct dosage and instructions are provided
- Support with medication administration tasks as required, following all safety protocols
- Maintain organised records of prescriptions and patient interactions in compliance with data protection regulations
- Assist in managing stock levels, including ordering and stock rotation to prevent expiry
- Provide advice on over-the-counter products and health-related queries within scope of practice
- Ensure the pharmacy environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for patients and staff
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to deliver optimal patient care
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or in medication administration is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, capable of providing clear information to patients and team members
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- A caring attitude with a focus on patient care and confidentiality
- Basic IT skills for managing electronic records and prescriptions
