The Role
As a Rail Arborist, you'll carry out vegetation management and arboriculture works to help maintain a safe and reliable railway network. Working as part of an experienced team, you'll deliver work safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Vegetation clearance within the rail environment.
- Tree felling and processing.
- Hedge, shrub and undergrowth clearance.
- Removal of hazardous and overhanging branches.
- Operation of chainsaws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers and wood chippers.
- Fencing repairs and installations where required.
- Vegetation management around railway signals, signage and infrastructure.
- Daily equipment inspections and maintenance.
- Identifying and reporting safety hazards.
- Working safely in accordance with Network Rail standards and company procedures.
Prefered Requirements:
- Previous experience working within the rail vegetation industry.
- PTS (Personal Track Safety).
- NPTC/LANTRA Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-Cutting (CS30 or equivalent).
- NPTC/LANTRA Felling & Processing Trees up to 380mm (CS31 or equivalent).
- NPTC/LANTRA Brush Cutter & Trimmer qualification.
- NPTC/LANTRA Wood Chipper qualification.
- Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry (F+).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- NPTC/LANTRA Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue (CS38 or equivalent).
- NPTC/LANTRA Aerial Cutting with a Chainsaw (CS39 or equivalent).
- COSS.
- IWA.
- MEWP.
- Additional NPTC/LANTRA arboricultural qualifications.
