Shift Pattern: Continental Shift Pattern, 12 hours per shift: 4 days on, 4 off, 4 Nights on, 4 off
Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Extrusion Operator to support the production of APET and rPET sheet products used within the thermoforming packaging industry. The role involves assisting Extrusion Operators in maintaining efficient production flow, handling finished goods, replenishing raw materials, packaging products to specification, and ensuring high standards of safety, housekeeping, and product quality.
This is a hands-on manufacturing role suited to individuals who work well in a fast-paced production environment and are committed to maintaining operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist Extrusion Operators in the safe and efficient running of sheet extrusion lines.
· Remove finished reels of APET/rPET sheet from production lines using approved handling methods and equipment.
· Transport finished goods to designated packing and storage areas.
· Weigh finished reels and verify product identification and production information.
· Pack reels securely onto pallets in accordance with customer and internal packaging specifications.
· Apply protective wrapping, edge protection, strapping, and labelling to ensure finished goods are presented neatly and securely for storage and dispatch.
· Ensure all palletised products are correctly labelled and traceable.
· Replenish extrusion line feed systems with bulk raw materials.
· Monitor material supply levels and notify operators or supervisors of shortages or issues.
· Assist with line changeovers and housekeeping activities around extrusion equipment.
· Maintain cleanliness and organisation of production and packing areas in line with GMP and food packaging standards.
· Follow all health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures at all times.
· Report equipment issues, damaged materials, or quality concerns promptly.
· Support continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives within the production area.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
· Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
· Good understanding of safe manual handling practices.
· Ability to follow work instructions and packaging specifications accurately.
· Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
· Good time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills.
· Forklift Truck (counterbalance) or competency.
Desirable
· Experience within plastics, packaging, extrusion, or recycling manufacturing.
· Experience using pallet wrapping or strapping equipment.
· Knowledge of GMP or food-grade manufacturing environments.

Working Environment
This role is based within a plastics manufacturing facility producing APET and rPET sheet for thermoformed packaging applications. The environment includes:
· moving machinery and automated equipment
· forklift traffic
· elevated temperatures
· manual handling activities
· shift-based production operations
Appropriate PPE and training will be provided.
