Overview
- Create accurate 2D drawings using AutoCAD and sometimes other CAD software.
- Convert design concepts, sketches, and customer requirements into manufacturing drawings.
- Prepare cutting lists, material schedules, and assembly drawings.
- Develop detailed shop drawings for production and installation teams.
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, company specifications, and client requirements.
- Coordinate with designers, engineers, production managers, and machinists.
- Revise drawings based on feedback from clients or production staff.
- Support CNC programming by providing accurate dimensions and technical data.
- Maintain drawing records and document control systems.
- Assist with estimating material quantities and project planning.

- Prepared detailed shop and production drawings for custom furniture and joinery projects.
- Generated cutting lists, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Coordinated with design and production teams to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Updated and revised CAD drawings according to project requirements.
- Supported CNC machining and installation activities with technical drawings.
- Ensured drawing accuracy, quality standards, and timely project delivery.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Understanding of woodworking materials, joinery techniques, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and architectural plans.
- Knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, and production methods.
- Familiarity with CNC machining and woodworking machinery is often advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of materials such as hardwood, softwood, MDF, plywood, laminates, and veneers.
Experience
Intermediate (2–5 Years)
- Producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings independently.
- Preparing cutting lists, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and production documentation.
- Coordinating with production teams, CNC operators, and project managers.
- Working on custom furniture, kitchens, wardrobes, doors, windows, or commercial fit-out projects.
- Understanding woodworking materials and manufacturing processes.
Senior-Level (5+ Years)
- Managing complex joinery and furniture projects from design through production.
- Reviewing and approving technical drawings.
- Training junior draughtsmen.
- Optimizing designs for manufacturing efficiency and cost reduction.
- Liaising directly with clients, architects, and contractors.
- Basic knowledge of furniture, cabinetry, or joinery construction.
- Preparing simple shop drawings and material lists.
- Assisting senior designers or draughtsmen with drawing revisions.
