Delivering positive change to the world around us
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Account Executive to join our Cardiff team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with strong writing skills, an interest in politics and current affairs, and a positive can-do attitude to build a career in communications and stakeholder engagement.
At Grasshopper, our work helps communities understand what is happening around them and gives people clear, meaningful ways to have their say. We support major infrastructure, sustainability and place-based projects across our sectors, helping clients to explain change, listen properly and make better decisions.
Who we are
Grasshopper is an award-winning B Corp communications agency with a creative edge and a deep commitment to community engagement. We create campaigns that change attitudes and actions in positive, lasting ways, and we help shape challenging conversations about the changing world around us - from active travel and renewable energy to zero carbon homes and coastal adaptation.
As a team, we are united by a common goal: to get people talking and unlock social value. That makes coming to work meaningful, inspiring and fun. If you would like to work for a company with a genuine passion for communities and sustainability, we would love to hear from you.
We can promise a warm welcome, the chance to build your skills and opportunities to make a positive impact on the world around you.
What you’ll do
A typical day at Grasshopper is rarely the same. You might be organising a consultation event in a community hall, monitoring what’s been discussed in thee Senedd, putting up site notices, meeting Members of the Senedd, responding to stakeholder enquiries, drafting a press release or consultation materials, analysing feedback from a public consultation, or researching who is who in a local community.
We support projects where clear communication matters. Working collaboratively as a team we help communities, elected representatives, local organisations and other stakeholders understand what is proposed, why it matters, how they can get involved and what happens next.
It’s a full-time role, 37 hours per week, with a flexible approach to working patterns. Some evening or weekend work may be required to support consultation events, community engagement activity or project deadlines.
What we’re looking for
· Excellent writing skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, accessible and engaging copy for different audiences.
· A genuine interest in current affairs, politics, stakeholder engagement, environmental issues and sustainability.
· A confident organiser who can help plan and deliver consultation events and engagement activity, often working to tight deadlines, coordinating logistics and equipment, and keeping things moving calmly when plans change.
· A positive can-do attitude, good initiative and the ability to roll your sleeves up and manage a varied workload that can change at short notice.
· Experience of, or a strong interest in, research, analysing feedback and data, and supporting the preparation of reports.
· Confidence in building strong working relationships with clients, community representatives, elected members, local organisations and stakeholders.
· Good judgement, attention to detail and an understanding of risk, with the confidence to think through challenges, suggest solutions and challenge how things are done when there is a better way.
· Creative flair, curiosity and an appetite to continually improve how we work, communicate and engage with communities.
· Digital confidence, including an understanding of how social media and digital channels can support engagement.
· As many of our campaigns and projects are bilingual, Welsh language skills — speaking, reading and writing — are desirable.
Rewards and benefits package
· Salary: £24,242
· 24 days leave rising to 29 days with length of service (plus bank holidays)
· Hybrid working 2 to 3 days a week from our Cardiff office.
· Flexible work approach with core hours.
· Two paid volunteering days a year to help your local community.
· Two weeks paid sabbatical every three years.
· Workplace pension scheme.
· Health Cash Plan
· Training and CPD.
