Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Transport Planner specialising in Dry Bulk logistics. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and optimising the transportation of dry bulk materials, ensuring efficient delivery schedules whilst maintaining high standards of customer service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong management, organisational, and communication skills to contribute to a dynamic supply chain environment.
Duties
- Develop and manage detailed transport schedules for dry bulk shipments, ensuring timely deliveries in accordance with client requirements.
- Coordinate with drivers, warehouse teams, and clients to optimise routes and minimise costs whilst maintaining safety standards.
- Utilise Microsoft Office suite programmes including Word, Excel, and Outlook to prepare reports, update schedules, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Monitor shipment progress through IT systems and provide proactive updates to clients and internal teams.
- Analyse logistical data to identify areas for process improvement and implement strategic solutions.
- Oversee compliance with relevant transportation regulations and safety protocols.
- Lead or assist in organising transportation resources, including managing driver assignments and vehicle utilisation.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to shipments, schedules, and operational activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in management, logistics, or supply chain roles within the transportation sector; experience in dry bulk logistics is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes such as Word, Excel, Outlook; computer literacy is essential.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal, capable of liaising confidently with clients and team members.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders efficiently.
- Strong IT skills including familiarity with logistics management software or similar systems.
- Customer service orientation with a focus on delivering reliable logistical solutions.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
