Following a recent merger and refinancing between the Southern Co-op and the Co-op Group, we are looking for a proactive and highly skilled Treasury Manager to join our team on a 9 month fixed term basis.
As part of the merger, Southern’s business has been acquired by Siena Co-operative Limited, a 100% subsidiary of the Co-op Group. In this newly created role, you will take ownership of Siena’s financial assets, cash flow, and liquidity. Working closely with the Finance Director, you will be instrumental in minimizing financial risk, managing vital funding relationships, and optimising working capital to ensure we have robust funding for our operational needs and upcoming integration initiatives.
What You Will Be Doing
As our Treasury Manager, you will be at the forefront of building and refining our new treasury processes. Your key responsibilities will include:
Cash & Liquidity Management: Direct daily cash operations and execute accurate short- and long-term cash flow forecasting. You will work cross-functionally with the wider business and migration teams to ensure migration and integration plans are accurately reflected in Siena’s cash flows.
Banking & Facility Relations: Act as the primary day-to-day contact for our banking partners and the Coop Group. You will manage credit lines, negotiate banking fees, and ensure strict compliance with intercompany loan agreements, asset backed finance, and hire purchase agreements.
Insightful Analysis & Reporting: Prepare regular cash flow variance analysis, investigating the key drivers behind the numbers. You will report cash flow, net debt, and covenant forecasts to the Coop Group while making strategic recommendations to Siena’s CFO/FD on cash utilisations and drawdowns.
Investment & Capital Optimisation: Collaborate with the Coop Group to strategically invest surplus cash into appropriate short-term instruments, maximizing yield while safeguarding the principal.
Systems & Process Improvement: Champion the continuous improvement of our treasury management and forecasting systems, driving automation and implementing robust financial controls.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: Proven background in a Treasury Management role, ideally with experience managing cash flows during corporate integrations, mergers, or refinancing events.
Qualifications: A relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACT / AMCT, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
Technical Skills: Strong analytical skills with a track record of accurate cash flow forecasting, variance analysis, and covenant reporting.
Relationship Building: Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to confidently negotiate with financial institutions and manage relationships with a parent company/group (TCG).
System Savvy: Experience in improving or implementing treasury systems, with a keen eye for driving automation and tightening financial controls.
