Woodhouse Cottage is looking to recruit a Male Senior Support Worker to join their team.
Role type: Full-time, 42 hours per week
Hours: 8am - 9pm. Weekend work will be included
Pay Rate: £13.95 per hour
Woodhouse Cottage is located in East Ardsley, near Wakefield in West Yorkshire. Our home offers residential support for six adult males, and they are cared for by a male-only team. This includes men with a learning disability and autistic men. We are in a semi-rural location, surrounded by beautiful countryside.

At Woodhouse Cottage, we support projects to engage and rehabilitate individuals, so they can do things that are meaningful to them, reducing the likelihood of them requiring forensic support in the future.
We can also support those who have mild to moderate behaviours that may challenge.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
You will have gained experience in a similar setting, supervising and leading others. While a formal qualification is not required, you should be willing to complete a Level 3 qualification in Team leadership and management with Priory.

Supervise colleagues, lead team meetings and support your peers with their performance and professional development

Lead support planning and act as point of contact in the absence of site leadership

Assist with the management of site petty cash and client funds

Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care

Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes

Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals

Assistance and support to attend medical appointments

Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff

Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams

Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth
