We are looking for a structural Yard and Steel Saw Operator to join our busy structural steel workshop in WD25 on a self-employed basis.
START DATE - 31 August 2026
Pay Rate: £13.00–£18.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 5:00pm
- Saturday: 7:00am – 12:00pm
Role Responsibilities
- Read and interpret job sheets, drawings, and cutting lists.
- Identify and select appropriate structural steel profiles (beams, columns, channels, angles, RHS/SHS, etc.).
- Measure and cut steel accurately to required lengths using band saws or other cutting machinery.
- Manage steel stock, track material usage, and minimise waste.
- Organise and store offcuts and leftover materials appropriately.
- Load and unload materials from lorries using overhead crane and/or forklift.
- Carry out basic maintenance checks on cutting equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
- Comply with all site health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with structural steel
- Ability to read drawings and cutting lists
- Experience operating band saws
- Overhead crane and/or forklift experience (preferred)
- Must be self-employed and provide a valid UTR number
Further training will be provided for the right candidate.
