GENERAL PRACTITIONER – Maternity Locum GP position
4 SESSIONS PER WEEK, 12 month fixed term contract
START DATE: August 2026
Church Avenue is a patient centred, motivated and supportive practice serving 11000 patients on the north side of Harrogate, a beautiful historic town on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales.
We are looking for an enthusiastic GP to join our friendly and dynamic team for 4 sessions a week, on a Monday and Wednesday, to cover maternity leave. The role would be to provide standard ‘core work’ as a GP, including routine clinics, emergency Duty Doctor clinics, home visits and a share of practice admin work (bloods, letters and prescriptions). As a practice we encourage continued professional development, and we would encourage the candidate to fully join our team and attend regular in-house teaching sessions, team practice meetings and palliative care meetings. The role includes NHS pension and the model BMA contract.
The core practice team which includes 5 partners, 4 salaried GPs, a retainer GP, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a paramedic Advanced Care Practitioner and 2 prescribing clinical pharmacists. Our experienced nursing team comprises 3 Practice Nurses, a Nurse Associate and phlebotomist. We are also a Training Practice with 2 GP trainers and three GP Registrars.
We are part of a proactive PCN team bringing a diverse set of skills and are supportive by first contact practitioners and a social prescriber.
We have an excellent medicines management team, who deal with medication monitoring, reconciliation of medication from discharge letters and medicine related queries from staff and patients. Our experienced Data Quality team process incoming letters, deal with coding and complete long term condition review invites. We have a dedicated reception team and 3 care co-ordinators.
