Job Title: Cyber Intelligence Investigator - Cyber Crime Unit - 01
Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cyber Crime Unit within Specialist Crime of the Metropolitan Police.
We are looking for cyber intelligence investigators who will investigate cybercrime offences including hacking, malware, ransomware, online fraud and denial-of-service attacks.
The role focuses on gathering and analysing evidence, pursue suspects, and supporting the successful prosecution and disruption of offenders to protect people, businesses, and communities across London.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Investigate reports of cybercrime, applying intelligence-led methods to identify suspects and gather admissible evidence, to secure judicial outcomes.
Conduct and document suspect, witness and victim interviews in line with legislation, ensuring reliable and ethical evidence capture.
Apply for and execute warrants, seizures and production orders in compliance with law and procedure, to enable evidence gathering.
Analyse data from digital devices, financial transactions and digital assets (including cryptocurrency), to identify patterns of offending and trace proceeds of crime.
Prepare case files and disclosure schedules for Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) submission, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with disclosure obligations. The role holder will act as Officer in Charge (OIC) for investigations, holding responsibility for case management and disclosure obligations.
Progress proactive operations generated from intelligence packages (e.g., NCA or internal Dark Web team) to disrupt online criminal markets and dismantle offender networks.
Collaborate with national and regional cybercrime partners (e.g., NCSC, NCA, RCCUs, ROCUs, City of London Police) to share intelligence and coordinate cross-jurisdictional investigations.
Maintain accurate records and manage concurrent cases, prioritising workloads under the direction of the Detective Sergeant to achieve timely outcomes.
Who we're looking for:
Understanding of cybercrime typologies, computer network systems and the evidential opportunities arising from malware and indicators of compromise.
Working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and General Data Protection Regulation.
Skilled in conducting complex criminal investigations, applying intelligence and evidential techniques.
Skilled in preparing and conducting formal interviews with suspects, witnesses and victims.
Skilled in analysing digital data and financial transactions, including digital assets.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
Skilled in prioritising multiple investigations with limited supervision and meeting evidential deadlines.
Proven recent experience in conducting complex reactive and proactive investigations through to prosecution.
Experience preparing court applications and managing large case files, including disclosure obligations.
Experience in custody procedures and prisoner handling.
Experience applying for and executing warrants.
Foundation training and Pursue investigation training will be provided within first year.
Applicants must be willing to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.
