This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce as a Project Manager Degree Apprentice in the Events Team.
Working alongside our experienced Events Manager, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the planning and delivery of a wide variety of business events across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. From flagship exhibitions and conferences to networking events, awards ceremonies, training courses and roundtables, you'll develop the practical skills needed to become a successful project manager.
Alongside your role, you'll complete a fully funded BSc (Hons) Project Manager Degree Apprenticeship with Anglia Ruskin University, allowing you to apply your learning directly to real projects from day one.
About the Events Team
Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce delivers over 100 events each year, bringing together businesses from across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Events range from small networking breakfasts to large-scale exhibitions, conferences, awards ceremonies and business support programmes. Every event is managed as a project, requiring careful planning, communication, organisation and attention to detail.
As part of the team, you'll work closely with colleagues across marketing, membership and finance, as well as external venues, suppliers, sponsors and speakers.
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside the Events & Training Manager, you will:
Event Project Management
- Support the planning and delivery of Chamber events from initial concept through to completion.
- Assist with creating and maintaining project plans, timelines and action trackers.
- Monitor project progress and help ensure deadlines are met.
- Support event budgets and monitor expenditure where appropriate.
- Assist with post-event evaluation and reporting.
Event Delivery
- Support the delivery of conferences, exhibitions, awards, training courses and other events.
- Liaise with venues, exhibitors, sponsors, suppliers and speakers.
- Prepare event documentation, schedules and operational plans.
- Coordinate event logistics.
- Assist with venue setup and on-the-day event delivery.
- Support health and safety planning and risk assessments.
Stakeholder Management
- Build positive relationships with members, partners and suppliers.
- Respond professionally to enquiries.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Administration
Working alongside the Operations Coordinator:
- Maintain accurate project documentation.
- Update project trackers and databases.
- Maintain accurate event records.
Learning & Development
- Complete the Project Manager Degree Apprenticeship programme.
- Apply project management techniques learned through university within the workplace.
- Build evidence towards the apprenticeship portfolio and End Point Assessment.
- Attend regular reviews with your workplace mentor and university tutor.
This isn't an apprenticeship where you'll spend three years observing. From the outset, you'll play an active role in delivering some of the region's largest business events, working alongside the Events & Training Manager to plan and deliver projects that have a real impact on the local business community.

Essential
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in project management and events.
- Is highly organised and enjoys planning.
- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Can manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Has excellent written, verbal and telephone communication skills, with a professional and confident manner.
- Is comfortable speaking with a range of people, building positive relationships and providing excellent customer service over the phone, by email and in person.
- Enjoys working with people.
- Is confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Has a proactive, positive attitude.
- Is keen to learn and develop professionally.
- Can work independently while also being part of a team.
- Meets the entry requirements for the Degree Apprenticeship, including a Level 3 qualification and Level 2 English.
- Holds a valid UK driving licence with access to own vehicle.
Desirable
- Experience organising activities or projects (school, college, work or volunteering).
- Customer service experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel.
- An interest in business and the local economy.
