Looking to gain practical experience in a supportive, structured, and inspiring summer school environment?
The British Learning Academy (BLA) is excited to offer entry-level EFL teaching opportunities for trainee teachers to join our international summer programmes in Bristol and Portsmouth. You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience working with students aged 11–17 while being supported by experienced and qualified colleagues.

What You’ll Do
- Teach 15 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 09:00–12:45), delivering dynamic, communicative lessons
- Attend a daily teacher briefing (08:45–09:00)
- Support and contribute to resource development, excursions, and student engagement
- Undertake 6 hours of directed time weekly (admin, planning, quiz sessions, etc.)
- Receive regular feedback and guidance to help you improve your practice

Support & Pay
Because this is a training-ground opportunity:
- Pay starts at £350 per week, depending on experience and the level of support required
- Travel allowance of £50/week for non-residential teachers
- Residential teachers are offered full board accommodation (private en-suite room) and expected to participate in one evening activity and one excursion per week
- A pathway to progression into fully paid EFL posts in future years
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6 or equivalent)
- Currently undertaking a PGCE (English or MFL) or CELTA/TESOL qualification that includes assessed teaching practice
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK

- Provide an up-to-date CV with no unexplained gaps
- Supply two references, including your most recent training provider or employer
- Complete an Enhanced DBS check and share proof of identity and qualifications
