Production Operative & Maintenance Technician
Location: Near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire
Job Type: Full-time
We are looking for a practical, hands-on individual to join our fuel distribution and manufacturing business based near Chipping Norton.
This is a varied role combining production, warehouse duties and maintenance of our bottling equipment. We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding how machinery works and takes pride in keeping equipment running efficiently while also being happy to work alongside the production team.
No formal engineering qualifications are essential, but a strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn are important.
About the Role
The role is split between operating our packing plant and carrying out maintenance on our five automated filling lines that produce AdBlue and Screenwash in 5L and 10L containers for customers across the UK.
When production is running smoothly, you'll work as part of the warehouse and production team. When required, you'll carry out preventative maintenance, diagnose faults and make mechanical adjustments to keep the plant operating efficiently.
Our filling equipment is primarily pneumatically operated, so experience with compressed air systems, valves, cylinders or similar equipment would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating our AdBlue and Screenwash filling lines.
- Packing and palletising finished products.
- Carrying out routine preventative maintenance on five filling lines.
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and pneumatic faults.
- Replacing worn components and carrying out repairs where appropriate.
- Working with the management team to improve reliability and minimise downtime.
- Picking and preparing customer orders.
- Loading and unloading vehicles and containers (including some handball).
- Operating a forklift (training can be provided if required).
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and health & safety.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Is mechanically minded and enjoys problem solving.
- Has experience with machinery, manufacturing equipment, vehicle mechanics, agricultural equipment or similar.
- Has an understanding of pneumatic systems or is willing to learn.
- Is practical, reliable and enjoys working with their hands.
- Is physically fit and comfortable with manual work.
- Works well as part of a small, hardworking team.
- Has a positive attitude and is keen to develop new skills.
Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, production or maintenance would be beneficial but is not essential for the right candidate.
What We Offer
- Full training on our machinery and production processes.
- PPE and workwear provided.
- Company pension.
- Free on-site parking.
- Opportunity to gain forklift training.
- Opportunity to progress to an HGV driving role, with licence training funded by the company for the right candidate.
- Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
