Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a meticulous and reliable R&D Technician to join our R&D team at our facility in Wantage, Oxon. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in laboratory operations, a strong understanding of chemical processes, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

This is a fixed term contract for up to 12 months.

What will you be doing?

Prepare and test chemical samples according to established procedures.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
Record and analyze test results accurately, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Support research and development projects by conducting routine and specialized tests.
Maintain inventory of lab supplies and ensure proper storage of chemicals.
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines within the laboratory.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to testing or equipment.
Support pilot-coating and formulation mixing for R&D Chemists.
Carry out development product characterisation and performance evaluations.
Provide statistical, product performance data in supporting Development Projects.
Participate in technical discussions with R&D Chemists, providing scientific insight based on the product performance data

Ability to link chemistry and material science to the recorded product performance data.
Ability to report on the progress of evaluations, and to meet deadlines.
Expertise with Microsoft Office applications is required. Experience with DOE and statistical analysis software (e.g. minitab) would be advantageous
Ideally degree qualified in chemistry or a related subject

What competencies will you need?

Technical Skills: Knowledge of laboratory techniques, chemical handling, and analytical testing.
Safety & Compliance: Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Data Accuracy: Ability to document and interpret results with precision.
Problem-Solving: Analytical thinking to identify and resolve issues quickly.
Communication: Clear reporting and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Time Management: Efficient in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
