Job Title: Northern Turkey Farms Area Manager
Reporting to: Assistant Production Manager
We have a great opportunity for a Farms Area Manager to join our busy Turkey Department working throughout our Northern Farms. You will be the first point of contact for our northern farms, offering support & technical knowledge to Company and Contract farms in, primarily the Midlands, Cheshire, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire areas. Attention to detail is a prerequisite to this position, you will understand the principles of brooding, ventilation, bird health, bio security & farm assurance.
You will be a good communicator who will be able to provide guidance and support on a regular basis to your group of farms. This role will involve lone working so you must be a self-motivated person who can work to deadlines and set targets.
Requirements of The Role:
You will have excellent communication skills & be able to talk to all levels within the business, you will be required to give advice & support to seasoned farmers who know their industry well.
Strong decision-making skills are necessary, but you will also be able to ask for guidance and support when required.
- To ensure your farms maintain the highest welfare standards, are always presentable, and bio security is upheld.
- To comply with our customer and company requirements concerning the growing standards.
- To work with the farms to ensure that all farm data is reported in a timely manner.
- Farm KPI’s will be monitored & improvements made where necessary.
- Keep yourself updated with production plans. Flock placement, flock depopulation, mortality, liveweights, feeding programmes, etc…
- Attend the catch at least once per month.
- Keep detailed records of flock performance, update the office as required, send weekly reports in on time.
- Some weekend working will be an essential part of this role.
- To be able to work within a well-established knowledgeable team & have a positive outlook and a can do attitude.
- Keep in regular communication the Production managers & your wider team.
- Strict confidentiality.
- Support the farms managers / contract growers with any audits (internal and external), and work alongside the managers / contractors to share best practice across the sites.
- Ensure that safe working practices are maintained across the farms adhering to Company SOPs and HSE best practice.
- Inform HR department on all staffing issues.

Job Type: Permanent
Hours per week: 39 hours per week, additional hours may be required at busy time during the year and these additional hours will be a condition of your salary.
Working Times: Working hours will be Monday to Thursday 8 hours per day, and Friday’s 7 hours per day. Your working times will be agreed in advance between you and your manager due to the nature of the role.
Pay Rate: £38,000 per annum with an increase to £39,000 following the successful completion of the 6-month probationary period.
