Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Kitchen Assistant / Commis Chef to join our culinary team. This role involves supporting the kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, a keen eye for detail, and previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience within a professional kitchen setting.

Duties

Support the cooking process by preparing dishes under supervision
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in accordance with food safety standards
Ensure all food is prepared and stored correctly to prevent contamination
Help with meal assembly and presentation to ensure high-quality service
Follow recipes and instructions accurately to maintain consistency in dishes
Assist with inventory management
Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, including proper handling of kitchen equipment and utensils

Skills

Experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen or restaurant environment
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Willingness to learn new culinary techniques and procedures
Basic understanding of meal preparation and presentation techniques
Previous experience serving or working in a hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential

Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour
