Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and organised Production Administrator to join our steel fabrication and installation team. This role is essential in supporting the day-to-day operations of the production department, ensuring materials, stock, and production information are accurately managed throughout the fabrication process.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Production Manager, Operations Manager, workshop team, and site teams to ensure the efficient flow of materials and information across the business.
Key Responsibilities
· Receipt incoming steel, materials, and supplier deliveries into the company's internal management system.
· Verify delivery documentation and ensure stock records are accurate and up to date.
· Manage and maintain stock levels of steel, consumables, and fabrication materials.
· Carry out regular stock checks and investigate stock discrepancies.
· Visit the workshop and yard to monitor stock, material locations, and delivery requirements.
· Create and issue delivery notes for fabricated steelwork, materials, and site deliveries.
· Use the company's internal software to allocate materials to projects and create nesting schedules to maximise material utilisation and minimise waste.
· Support production planning by ensuring material availability aligns with fabrication schedules.
· Maintain accurate records of production activities, material usage, and project allocations.
· Liaise with purchasing, workshop, and installation teams regarding material requirements and delivery schedules.
· Assist with document control, production paperwork, and project administration.
· Prepare reports and provide administrative support to the Production Manager and Operations Manager.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives and help maintain efficient production processes.
· Undertake general administration duties as required.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
· Previous administration experience within a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, or construction environment.
· Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Comfortable working in both office and workshop/yard environments.
Desirable
· Experience within the steel fabrication, steelwork, engineering, or construction industry.
· Knowledge of stock control and material management processes.
· Experience using ERP, production planning, or fabrication management software.
· Understanding of steel fabrication processes and material specifications.
