Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef/Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional food quality and service. This role involves supervising kitchen operations, managing food production, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in maintaining the high standards of our establishment while fostering a positive and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient food preparation and service
Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, including cooks and junior chefs, fostering teamwork and professional development
Manage food production processes to maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards
Develop and update menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative dishes
Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
Monitor inventory levels, place orders for supplies, and manage stock control to minimise waste
Assist in training staff on proper cooking techniques, safety procedures, and customer service standards
Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment in accordance with health regulations

Qualifications

Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen setting
Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and presentation
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively
Sound knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
Experience working in a hospitality or restaurant environment is highly desirable
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred but not essential for highly experienced candidates
