Job Specification – Vehicle Painter Prepper
Location: Near Stockton-on-Tees
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday (with optional overtime)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Vehicle Painter Prepper to join our busy independent garage. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing vehicles and panels to a high standard prior to paint application, ensuring excellent quality finishes and efficient turnaround times.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles and panels for painting by sanding, masking, filling and priming.
- Remove dents, imperfections and previous paint defects where required.
- Carry out plastic repairs and minor body preparation work.
- Ensure all surfaces are correctly cleaned and prepared before paint application.
- Mix primers and prepare materials in line with manufacturer recommendations.
- Polish and rectify painted panels where required.
- Complete final quality inspections before vehicles leave the paint department.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Work closely with paint sprayers and other workshop technicians to meet customer deadlines.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Prepper, Bodyshop Prepper or Paint Prep Technician.
- Excellent knowledge of vehicle preparation techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- ATA accreditation or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
- Experience with water-based paint systems.
- Experience polishing and paint rectification.
- Knowledge of SMART repair techniques.

Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
