Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Friday, all year round.
Salary: Grade 4, scale point 7 - 10, £13.69 - £14.35 per hour, £26,403 - £27,694 per annum (pay award pending).

About the Role
As our Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security and smooth operation of the school site. You will be the main keyholder and will play a vital role in ensuring our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, clean and well presented.
Working closely with the Headteacher and wider site team and contractors where appropriate, co-ordinate maintenance activities and respond to the varying needs of a busy school environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the school's main keyholder, opening and securing the premises.
- Managing site security, alarms and responding to emergency call-outs.
- Co-ordinating maintenance and repair works and overseeing contractors on site.
- Operating and monitoring heating systems and site services efficiently.
- Maintaining the school grounds, pathways and external areas including during adverse weather.
- Carrying out general maintenance, porterage and emergency cleaning duties.
- Supporting the wider school community with room set-ups, deliveries and site-related requests.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is reliable, adaptable and takes pride in their work.
- Has excellent practical and problem-solving skills.
- Can prioritise workloads and respond calmly to changing demands.
- Has good communication and customer service skills.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Holds a current full and clean driving licence.
- Understands the importance of health and safety and safe working practices.
- Is confident using basic IT and mobile devices.
- Is physically able to undertake the duties of the role.
Desirable experience includes:
- General building maintenance or caretaking experience.
- A relevant trade or technical qualification.
- Experience of working within a school or education setting.
- Knowledge of fire safety, asbestos awareness, Legionella and Health and Safety regulations.
