Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and health and safety-focused Telehandler and Tractor Operator to provide operational cover across various sites throughout the Bristol and Somerset area.
This is a permanent PAYE position offering a varied working environment, with the successful candidate working across multiple sites and supporting operational teams where required.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced operator who takes health and safety seriously, is dependable and flexible, and is comfortable working a mixture of weekday and weekend shifts.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operator looking for a permanent position with the opportunity to develop their skills, undertake additional training including HGV Class 1 training.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate telehandlers, tractors and associated attachments safely and competently.
- Provide operational cover across multiple sites throughout Bristol, Somerset and surrounding areas.
- Support site teams during periods of staff absence, increased workload or operational demand.
- Carry out loading, unloading, material handling and general site duties as required.
- Complete daily equipment checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain a strong health and safety focus at all times.
- Ensure all machinery is operated in accordance with company procedures, site rules and relevant health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and professionalism across all sites.
- Work closely with site management and operational teams to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Be flexible regarding working locations, shift patterns and duties depending on operational requirements.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the successful operation of the sites.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience operating telehandlers and tractors in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Preference given to NPORS Trained Operators.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements when operating mobile plant.
- Full UK driving licence.
- A reliable and responsible approach to work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider operational team.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different site environments and operational requirements.
- Availability and willingness to work a mixture of weekday and weekend shifts.
HGV Class 1 Qualification
The ideal candidate will already hold an HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence.
Candidates who do not currently hold an HGV Class 1 licence but demonstrate the right experience, attitude and aptitude will also be considered.
A willingness to undertake HGV Class 1 training and participate in the required qualification process would be highly desirable, with training and development opportunities available as part of the role.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
- Experience working within water, waste, utilities, construction, agriculture or similar industries.
- Experience operating additional plant and machinery.
- Relevant CPCS, NPORS or equivalent plant operator qualifications.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify machinery defects.
